Working at tyntec
My Intern Experience at tyntec
What's it like to be an intern at a cloud communications company? AMAZING. Here is a glimpse of my work at tyntec!
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Charlotte and I’m a 15 year-old student who interned in the marketing department at tyntec for one week.
To be honest, I was quite nervous about doing an internship in a tech company — my main concerns were messing up or not being able to fulfill all my tasks. But this fear was taken away pretty fast because Ashley Quirk, my supervisor, took a lot of pressure off my shoulders by letting me know she’ll be by my side and that I could decide to do what I’m interested in. I decided, for example, to take over the Social Media accounts, such as Instagram and Twitter. I posted “snap shots” of my internship and what happened during my days, so check them out.
I also enjoyed joining meetings and learning about tyntec’s business model, the products offered, and how the service is delivered. It was very interesting, and I never thought how much work and technology is behind a messaging service.
There were also a lot of people helping me and answering my questions about tyntec and my work. Everyone was so nice and kind. Also every member of the marketing department had a meeting with me and talked about their job at tyntec.
Here are my day-to-day notes from my tyntec experience:
Day 1: My first day started off by meeting Ashley and arranging my work space. I even got my own laptop! Afterwards I got to meet everyone working there and, together with three other newbies, I got a tour of the office. At 12pm we went for lunch in a big group and I had the chance to get to know my colleagues. When we arrived back at the office I had a few meetings via Skype with other teammates. In all, my first day just flew by.
Day 2: Tuesday, my second day, wasn’t too busy with meetings. For the most part I worked on my own. I also missed most of the company-wide Weekly Standup, but that’s okay because I was busy planning our Munich summer party for Thursday!
Day 3: My third day was exciting, mostly because the tyntec office in Munich will be showcased in a blog soon, tyntec had photographer onsite for the blog photoshoot and I had the opportunity to help him around the office. He arranged people in different places around the office and it was so funny to watch how they struggled to keep it together. It took a lot of time though but it was worth it because the photos turned out amazing! The photos will be uploaded in another blog post soon.
Day 4: Thursday — the day of the summer party! It began at 5:00 pm and I was super exited to help plan, prepare, AND participate in this event. To be honest, some things didn’t go as planned. For example, we couldn‘t handle the Helium tank until we read the instructions but in the end everything turned out great. Some team members brought their friends or their families. I talked to a lot of different people and it was so much fun. Everyone, again, was so nice and integrated me in their conversations.
Day 5: And now, as I’m writing this, it’s Friday and I’m really sad that my internship is only one week long. Each day just flew by. I‘d really like to stay longer because, in contrast to school, I experienced tyntec as an inspiring environment — busy and thrilling, but also relaxed and fun on the human side of things. Hopefully in the future, I´ll have the opportunity to return to tyntec to work a little bit more.
All in all, I can say that I enjoyed everything and I was excited to get up in the morning and go to work.
Finally I want to say thank you to everyone who showed me around the office, took the time to explain their role at tyntec, and made me feel welcome and included in this great working environment! And a huge THANK YOU to Ashley for taking time for me and helping me so much.
I enjoyed every day at tyntec!
See you soon!
