Mobile Enterprise
The advent of the mobile enterprise is largely based on geographically-dispersed communication among workforces, as well as the increasing popularity of home office and remote working. Large corporations and SMEs are investing in mobile tools to enable employees to work on-the-move. These include mobile internet and messaging applications, such as SMS, instant messaging and mobile e-mail.

SMS is used by enterprises in areas such as incident alerts (in IT outage situations, for example), customer service updates, staff communications and passwords and mTANs to authenticate access to systems in remote locations.

Mobile e-mail is often used by top management only, mainly due to its high cost of implementation and maintenance.
