Cloud telephony
Cloud telephony uses IP-based technology to offer a variety of telephony services, such as voice calls and SMS. With the enabling technology hosted ‘in the cloud’ this allows a variety of Internet connected devices to make voice calls and send SMS using a digital access point.   
   
The use of universal services such as voice and SMS in its IP form is key for consumer uptake of cloud telephony. The provision of online number offerings is also taking off, with major internet companies providing numbering capabilities to its subscribers.
